Materials

Red Heart Classic 4 Ply yarn

Color A -Country Blue 19 1/2 oz

Color B-Windsor Blue  19 1/2 oz.

Color C-Soft White 19 1/2 oz.

Afghan Hook Size N (15 mm) and Crochet Hook Size N.

Gauge: Afghan Knit Stitch 6 sts and 7 rows = 2 inches

Strip #1

Tunisian Knit Stitch (Make 3)

With color C, ch 26.  Make 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; and bind off.

Strip #2

Tunisian Knit Stitch (Make 2)

With color A, ch 26.  Make 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; and bind off.

Strip #3

Tunisian Knit Stitch (Make 4)

With Color B, ch 7.  Make 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; and bind off.

Following the chart, duplicate stitch the Soft White squares.

Weave the strips together as follows: #1, #3, #2, #3, #1, #3, #2, #3, #1.

Border

Start in any corner sp; with color B.

Rows 1-7:  Ch 2, 2 sc in same sp (corner made); sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each remaining corner sp.  Join with a sl st to top of first ch 2.

Pillow

Size: 13″X16″ excluding ruffle

Pillow Cover Front:

With color B, ch 35.  Make 5 rows B; 34 rows C; 5 rows B; and bind off.

Side Strips (Make 2)

With color A, ch 7.  Make 5 rows A; 34 rows B; 5 rows A; and bind off.

Weave these three pieces together for the front pillow cover. Following the chart, duplicate stitch the Soft White square.

Pillow Back

With A, ch 48.  Make 45 rows A; and bind off.  With wrong sides together, weave three sides of the pillow front and back together.  Do not cut yarn.

Make or buy a pillow form 13″X16″ to insert into your cover.  Turn your cover right side out and insert the pillow form into the pillow cover and finish weaving closed.

Ruffle

Row 1: Start in any corner sp; with color B, ch 3; 2 dc in same sp as ch 3; dc in every sp around. Join with a sl st to top of first ch 3.

Row 2: Ch 3; 3 dc in next sp; (corner made), *dc in next sp; 2 dc in next sp; rep from * around, work 3 dc in remaining corners. Join with a sl st to top of first ch 3.

Row 3: Repeat row 2. Fasten off.

    This pillow is done in Knit afghan stitch which looks knitted when finished. The duplicate stitch is a surface design technique used on
    knitted articles after the square or item is knitted or crocheted in this case. I have tutorials on the web site for both the afghan knit stitch
    and the duplicate stitch.
